Bunkbed makeover

I have finally tackled this big project of de-browning the bunk bed , Mason was opposed at first and with the first mention that it was ok to change it ,I jumped at the chance to make it happen .Poor girl didn't have a proper place to sleep for 5 days , no worries , she will sleep well tonight .

I wanted to get the look of this pottery barn bed but not spend over $1300.00 , I found one locally for $1000.00 less than this one , amazing isn't that , but it was in the wrong finish , no problem it's me, I can paint it , well it took a lot of work but it is always worth it to get the look I want , I am so pleased with the colour change , wood if fine for floors but you may know I do not like it as a furniture colour , not for my little girls , ok a big brown bed in a boys room will work , but there is nothing like a fresh crisp white piece of furniture for a girls room , for girls of all ages as well I enjoy it too.

It looks great white! I bet she loves it now! We just redecorated my daughter's bedroom for her 20th birthday. She had to move out & live in little sister's room for a couple weeks. We painted all her natural pine furniture. You can see pics on RMS...there's a link on my blog (sundays)

It's amazing what a crisp coat of white paint does to furnishings... I love the classic Pottery Barn look. I've "copied" it for a fraction of the price myself often. We are bad girls!

Dee,
Go ahead and paint it , use a shelac based primer to seal in the knots , it would look great black or white . Have patience , use a good paint , then you will have to apint less .

Love it! I wish I had your talent.
I couldn't agree with you more, love the white verses the brown, especially for a little girls room. I also tend to be drawn to the painted wood furniture over the natural. Sometimes I try to stop myself thinking it's too much, but no, it isn't :)Thanks for validating my thoughts.

I love it! Isn't it great that there is the fabulous invention called paint? i don't know what I would do with out.
i just discovered spray polyurethane-I don't know where I have been. If you have never used this-go and get some-it rocks! You know, us painter chicks-we need to stick together! (you are much better than i-but a girl must have a dream)

Thanks for your comment on the quilt. Tune in tomorrow for an update on how it looks now.

Congratulations on starting your own company. I love your car and the logo's on it.

Mason's room looks more and more like a pottery barn room everytime you show it. Fantastic!

Speaking of fantastic, I love the new family room ceiling. My cousin loves your style and can't wait to do that to her ceiling and the hood range cupboard. You're amazingly talented.

Take care,
Lisa
